Dr Lindon Garske

BSc MChiro DIANM
What is Sciatica? Sciatica is a term that is used to signify nerve pain in the leg and is caused by compression of the sciatic nerve. This type of pain usually starts in the lower back, moves deep into the buttock, and runs down the leg. What is the Sciatic Nerve? The sciatic nerve refers to the longest and heaviest nerve in our body. It’s essentially made up of five nerve roots: two from the lower back region known as the lumbar spine and three from the end of the spine called the sacrum. The five nerve roots join together to create a right and left sciatic nerve. On each side of your body. One sciatic nerve passes through your hips, buttocks, and down a leg, terminating just below the knee. The sciatic nerve is then divided into other nerves, which pass down into your leg, foot, and toes. An injury to the sciatic nerve “sciatica” is uncommon, but the term “sciatica” is widely used to describe any pain that emerges in the lower back and exudes down the leg. The elements that this pain shares in common are irritation, inflammation, pinching, or compression of a nerve in the lower back. The common symptoms of sciatica include:
  • Pain in the back or leg that becomes worse while sitting
  • Burning or tingling down the leg
  • Weakness, numbness, or a problem moving the leg or foot
  • Continuous pain on one side of the back
  • A sharp pain that makes it hard to stand up
At The Byron Bay Chiropractor, we see a large number of patients complaining of pain related to the sciatica nerve. As the primary step in ensuring the best sciatica treatment in Byron Bay is to find the root cause of the pain, our chiropractor conducts a detailed medical history, followed by a physical and neurological examination.Dr Garske carries out this thorough examination to find the most effective sciatica treatment in Byron Bay for any specific case. Some of the widely chosen treatment modalities are:
  • Acupuncture
  • Soft Tissue Massage
  • Adjustments (Spinal Manipulation)
Techniques differ from a rapid high velocity thrust to those that mix minimal power and mild pressure. Mastery of each chiropractic treatment technique is an art that asks for unmatched skill and precision. Spinal manipulation refers to the treatment that distinguishes chiropractic care from other medical corrections. Over the years, Lindon has successfully treated a large number of sciatica patients. We treat both the symptom and the cause to ensure that your treatment is more than just temporary. Chiropractic care eases pressure around the sciatic nerve and rapidly reduces pain. Additionally, we provide genuine advice and rehabilitation, which can help prevent your sciatica from re-occuring.
